Secretary General
Dear Delegates and MUN Directors,
“Our most serious shortcoming – and here I refer to the entire international community – is our inability to prevent crises. The United Nations was born from war. Today we must be here for peace.” - António Guterres
These words from Mr. António Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations is a resounding call for unity and peace. Model United Nations prepares students for being international citizens and teaches them indispensable lessons to forge peace and harmony with the resources at hand.
A Model United Nations Conference is not just a place where delegates can make arguments, it is an experience and opportunity to challenge your strengths and beliefs. Students, young adults, have the perfect blend of the power of imagination with logic, which gives them the confidence of saving the world. MUN shapes today’s students into tomorrow’s leader.
Each year, BDMUN strives to be bigger, better and becomes a trendsetter for the most prestigious Model United Nations Conferences. The zestful and highly-powered forum that BDMUN provides its delegates with, is absolutely unmatched. With a plethora of global and national affairs, there are a great amount of dynamic points of views and solutions to be discussed. BDMUN has and will continue to always excel at shaping young minds.
It is an absolute honor to hold the position of Secretary-General in such a magnetic and energising conference. To work with our wonderful BDMUN Team has been a truly enjoyable and rewarding experience. Each member of the BDMUN Team has put in their best efforts to make this chapter of BDMUN a thoroughly enjoyable and a wonderful learning experience for our delegates. The zeal that delegates have shown to prove their mettle and understanding of the question at hand, has made each chapter of BDMUN a grand success.
We are the future of this world and BDMUN is one way to prepare us for it. I hope to see fruitful discussions and arguments. I keenly look forward to this year’s chapter and know that it will, as always, be a defining point and memorable highlight for each delegate.
Your role as delegates at BDMUN 2021 and as future leaders is now more clearer than ever. The BDMUN Team of 2021 assures you to instil in you a sense of confidence and promises to provide you with a forum which is equal for all at its core. Do ask yourself the following question when attending the conference on 27 & 28 November 2021 and even after it:
Would a future world leader do what I am doing now?
The stage for MUNning at BDMUN 2021 is set!
Yours Sincerely
Jivishaa Pandit
Secretary-General
Deputy Secretary General
Dear future delegates of BDMUN,
Firstly, allow me to quash any worries or apprehensions you have about taking part in our BD Somani Model United Nations. Any MUN teaches you invaluable life skills, as well as refines your already pre existing skill set. Apart from the obvious knowledge you gain on the topics that your committees will revolve around, you stand to gain experience in public speaking, your ability to look at things from different perspectives and your argumentation skills. Rest assured, from all of us here in the BDMUN team, we can tell you that this edition is going to be just as fun-filled and educational as the rest.
Looking back, working in tandem with the rest of the BDMUN team was as enriching as it was fun, and as fun as it was fruitful. In my role of Deputy Secretary General I had the opportunity to work alongside Jivishaa as well as the various other extremely talented members of our team. I felt that working together really enhanced my teamwork skills and I felt like I got to know everyone much better due to the specialised nature of my role.
Work involved short-listing who we felt would be suitable chairs, drafting plans for internal training sessions, arranging how the actual MUN days would be structured, making sure every team was on track for finishing their allotted work and designing and promoting the MUN. All this, it has to be said, was done with the aim of making BDMUN a better event for YOU to partake in. We strive to do, like we have done so far, everything in our power to make this MUN more enjoyable for everyone, and do hope to see you there.
This experience truly has helped me learn a lot more, and here’s hoping it can do the same for you
Regards,
Pronoy Goswami

Head of Social Media
Dear Delegates,
Social Media is a crucial platform used to circulate awareness regarding current affairs around the world. Knowledge published online can enhance an individual’s knowledge, however, one should be cautious about reading from a credible source. The platform itself is programmed to complement virtual networking and communication to facilitate the sharing of vital information.
The experience of working in the Social Media team harmoniously for BDMUN 2021 has already been exceedingly thrilling for us. Designing content, thinking creatively, and establishing an interactive community are the main objectives for us. Being part of this particular team enlightens one about other educational systems, self-directed learning, and communicating with a diverse audience.
We encourage you to participate in this exhilarating virtual event, and we hope to see every delegate perform to their fullest potential. Don't hesitate to contact us regarding any queries.

Head of Press
Dear Delegates,
We live in a world of continuous change, a world of political unrest and a constant fight for social justice. The International Press Corps grants delegates an opportunity to voice their thoughts through illustrations, and written work. As a delegate, you get the chance to deliver work that makes a difference and be a representative for the silent and impotent.
Rather than representing a country as a delegate, you will represent a news organization. The same energy that you would dedicate to being a given country’s delegate is the same energy you will dedicate to become a reporter for your news organization. Your job as a member of the press corps is to create an honest and fair piece of work that will be featured in the daily magazine. We expect you to deliver quality work that is witty, creative, vocal and unreserved.
Unlike any other committee, your time in Press will not be confined to just one committee, you will get the chance to visit the fictional formula 1 committee, DISEC or UNSC. Your role will be to create articles on the committee’s happenings. This means when you are assigned to write an article on a specific committee’s events, remember to utilize quotes from interviews, star delegates and conversations with chairs to add colour to your story and present the reader with the hard facts they need to be informed of. The head and deputy head will serve as editors and fact-checkers. Please use us as well as your resources. We are more than willing to help you develop thoughtful news stories. Illustrators, we will take an illustration on any other committee different than the one you are assigned to. Remember to input your organisations’ bias within your work!
In addition to the writing, members of the Press Corps will also engage in a formal press conference through the weekend. Though the majority of your time will be spent reporting and completing assignments, come prepared to badger delegates and stir up debates as a representative of your organisation.
We can’t wait to see your work and interact with you in committee! Press delegates might seem like an invasive third party, peeking in and commenting on debates, however, if you enjoy expressing your thoughts behind the scenes, the International Press Corps is the place for you!
Warms Regards,
Kyra Jani, Head of Press

Head of Admin
Dear Delegates,
Participating in Model United Nations may sound extremely daunting at first, however, the experience and skills gained by participating in MUN are those that will remain with you throughout your life. You will build up your confidence, improve your research skills, develop analytical skills and learn about world affairs, all while having fun and enjoying yourselves. By participating the delegates will get a chance to use their imagination and creativity to solve the problem at hand.
The Model United Nations team here at BD Somani have done their best to create engaging and interactive committees for the participants. While deciding our committees, we have taken into consideration what students will enjoy, the current world affairs and topics that will result in insightful debates amongst the delegates. MUN gives students an opportunity to understand global issues in a unique manner as they are able to mimic important world leaders and solve some of the largest problems the world has faced. You will also get a chance to make new friends and learn from students across multiple schools.
As a member of the MUN team, I assure the delegates that despite the virtual nature of this year’s conference, the level of debate, enthusiasm and preparation is not to be compromised. The team has worked for days on end to make this conference as successful as any other and while the work is hard, we have had a great time planning for BD MUN 2021. As a team, we have had several weekly meetings, brainstorming sessions, and handpicked some of BD’s most talented students to ensure the success of this year’s MUN. As the head of the Admin team, it is my responsibility to make sure the events of the final day ruin as smoothly as possible. The admin members have the opportunity to be a part of every committee and the conference itself despite not conducting the research! A member from the Admin team will be present in each committee to ensure that the problems, if any, are solved quickly to make sure the delegates have an unforgettable experience. The Admin team will always be present to solve any problems that we may face on the final day such as technological and logistical issues. Coordinating with this year’s chairs and co-chairs we would like to create a virtual MUN experience like no other.
Keeping this in mind, we request all students to participate in this year's Model United Nations. The MUN team is working effortlessly to provide the delegates with a conference of the highest degree. We hope to see you on November 27th!

Dear Delegates,
Model United Nations is a platform fit for nearly everyone. Whether you enjoy public speaking or engaging yourself deep into the world of politics and current affairs, MUN is the ideal platform to voice your views and opinions and develop solutions for real world problems. In today’s rapidly globalizing world it is important to understand what is happening in the countries near and far from us, because these issues impact each and every one of us in some way or another.
While building your global awareness, MUN is also a great way to develop skills such as confidence, leadership, communication and even cooperation. By interacting with people who will be representing different countries, you can understand various perspectives and have a better understanding of the world around them. Another really interesting aspect I’ve found from the MUN’s I’ve participated in, is the way we get to take the role of an important diplomat or politician which not only shows us the importance these positions play in our society but also helps us understand their possible perspectives.
MUN may seem like an intimidating activity to participate in, I know it was for me when I first took part in MUNs. However, MUN also helped me combat a lot of fears such as speaking in front of an audience, and learning skills like making sure your voice is heard and standing your ground in important decisions. I have come to learn that these skills I gained are not only useful to MUN but even in our everyday lives, whether it's for tasks in school or in the future for university or in your workplace.
Being a part of the MUN team, my role and my department's role is to handle all the technological aspects of this year’s MUN especially considering the virtual nature of this event. We’ll be there to make sure that everything runs smoothly to make this year’s BDMUN a success.
We hope that everyone takes part in BDMUN 2021 with full enthusiasm and puts their best foot forward! The whole BDMUN team is working very hard to put together a very exciting and fruitful event and we look forward to seeing you all there!
