Director General
Dear Delegates and Directors,
I have invariably been mesmerized by the way the MUN conferences are executed. Till today, participated in every single MUN conference offered by our school since I was in grade 6 {which is roughly about 10-12 MUNs}; those experiences shaped me into the person I am today. With these experiences, I was able to build powerful connections not only with the MUN team but also with the delegates. I will strive to create the same environment that lured me into the world of MUN to others.
MUN is something that feeds my personality, it's much more than “just a conference”. It makes me comfortable with everyone's thoughts and opinions while growing intellectually. Additionally, it helped me possess exemplary leadership skills and enjoy perfection in a task. A feeling I would love to open to the delegates this year. My favorite part about the entire MUN process is not the end of the beginning, but the process. The process of building yourself, finding yourself, your place, your thoughts, your ideas, and your opinions while also holding your ground. Is an important lesson MUN teaches you. As the Director-General for this MUN, it is my goal to bring out many strengths and talents of others, rather than standing in the spotlight. I will empower those marginalized, quarreling factional, and come together under the spotlight as ONE.
The world in which we live today is fractured, its fractured geo-politically, ideologically, and socio-economically. In a hostile environment created by the world's media where these “lines of divisions are consistently highlighted, the UN is an organization that serves as a benign glow. As the organizing committee of the MUN, I will ensure that the weakest have a voice, and the strongest listen. The Director General, assumes the role of not a star performer, but that of a chameleon, effortlessly championing democracy while speaking to world leaders, whilst simultaneously reprimanding those that govern as authoritarians. I must at once be gentle who those who need it, and use force against those who deserve it. MUN to me is like a beehive, a safe space, where intellectual minds are nurtured and are met with thousands of other species of bees to find their spot in a chaotic world.
All of this would have been possible without our entire MUN team, who was here to ease us through the entire process and be the backbone of this entire conference. For the delegates, get your head in the game. It’s your time to shine!
Finally, Hi, my name is Aanya Kapadia your Director-General for BDMUN 2022.
P.S: Think about this “There’s evil in the world, all right. Being aware of it makes you a realist, not a paranoid.” ~Dean Koontz and let's keep this alive “Kids saving the world > adults saving the world”. Looking forward to the best BDMUN.

From the desk of the secretary general
Dear Delegates and Directors,
Welcome to BD Somani’s Model UN, a safe space for fiery debate, friendly banter and discourse and evaluation of controversial topics of today’s contemporary world!
My name is Saina Seth and I will be your Secretary General at this year’s conference. From my experiences attending numerous conferences as a delegate as well as a chair, I've realised that MUN is an opportunity that allows curious students and newcomers to communicate their interests and discover their passion for public speaking and debate. Through the course of this year’s conference, I wish to spark interest and discover such passions among delegates the same way I was riveted and swayed by the Model United Nations experience and the electric atmosphere that was filled with intellectually stimulating discussions during my first conference in the sixth grade.
Here at BDMUN, we strive for nothing short of excellence, well-rounded, diverse and notable conferences. While the ultimate goal may be to reach a resolution and consensus, according to me it is the process that holds immense value. The discussions, debates, conflicts, contradictions and crises that you’ll face throughout the course of a Model UN, that's where the real experience and scope for gaining new skills lie. The public speaking opportunities, the swift decision-making, and not to mention how you will be pushed to your limits to research and compile information faster than you ever have before. That? That to me is as good as gold. This is exactly what makes a Model United Nations conference a unique, enriching and holistic experience.
One thing about a Model United Nations is that it never fails to be diverse and fluid, just like today’s world. It prepares you for what’s to come in the future, for quick decision-making, for problem-solving and for adapting to change. This year with the inclusion of our constant-crisis committee and a night crisis, we aim to do exactly that. Delegates will be put on the spot, questioned and taught to be quick on their feet, a skill they will inevitably use in the future either knowingly or unknowingly. And if this sounds even remotely interesting to you, you’re going to love all the other aspects of a MUN.
As Secretary General, I’d like to thank my team for all the immense help and support they never failed to provide. As for the delegates, I want you all to debate like there’s no tomorrow and give it your absolute best! Keep a positive attitude throughout and don’t lose focus of what you’re here for, and you’ll be able to achieve anything you set out for.
I look forward to meeting you all at this year’s conference and shaping and preparing today’s young, remarkable minds into the future cosmopolitan leaders of this ever-changing world.
Warm regards,
Saina Seth

Deputy Secretary General
Dear Delegates,
My name is Aadit Shah and I will be your Deputy Secretary General for BDMUN 2022. The topic of focus this year are the sustainable development goals issued by the UN organization. It focuses on historical and current affairs with respect to the lives of people, the planet, and how countries can be better and adapted to fit into this constantly changing world. For me, MUN is more than just debating. It is a very complex and intricate system that sort of mimics how the real world works. MUN helps delegates not only improve their debating and reasoning skills but also their research skills, writing skills, vocabulary and confidence. I remember when I was a new delegate, unaware of the rules, and I was nervous. But when I gave my first speech, I realized that it was fun. It was about sharing your opinion. It was about persuasion. MUN has helped me so much throughout my school life and even personal life. It has helped me research deeply, understand things better, read better, write better, settle arguments with people and above all, it has given me something to be passionate about. It helps me think on the spot, speak confidently and also helps me be a better listener. All these qualities are integral to keeping good relations with people. I think MUN is an amazing thing to do where you meet new people, make friends, learn a lot and above all, enjoy the process of learning. Good luck delegates and I hope that MUN means a lot to you too.

Head of Press
Dear Delegates, Chairs and Directors
Just like the rest of the world, the press is adapting, fast paced and filled with excellent individuals with their own unique opinions. We can learn a lot from each other, through looking at the world from a different lens and redesign our thought process, evaluate and analyse current world topics. It improves logical and analytical thinking, decision making, critical thinking and even your problem solving skills. BDMUN allows delegates to think on their feet with the new challenges they are thrown at, a skill that is extremely advantageous in all aspects of your future.
As a delegate of the press, you have the unique opportunity to not be confined in one committee. Rather, you are encouraged to go to each and every committee and write, photograph or illustrate the proceedings. Your job is to create an honest, fair piece of work that will be published in the magazine. Remember to use quotes from interviews, star delegates and the chairs and co chairs. The head and deputy head of press are always willing to help so please use us in addition to other resources too. Lastly, do not forget about your news organization’s bias and remember to incorporate it.
We can’t wait to see your work and interact with you in committee! Press delegates might seem like an invasive third party, peeking in and commenting on debates, however, if you enjoy expressing your thoughts behind the scenes, the International Press Corps is the place for you!
Don't be afraid to put yourselves out there and make sure you put your heart and soul into it because there's nothing like a BDMUN. We look forward to acquainting ourselves with you during this year's conference.
Warmest regards,
Anika Mahansaria, Head of Press

Head of Admin
Dear Delegates,
We live in a world with constant turmoil and fights for social stability, the question is where do we find our balance? The Model United Nations provides an excellent opportunity to delegates to vocalize thoughts through different mediums. Prepare yourself for an experience like no other with mind boggling crises and earth shattering speeches. You as delegates will have the opportunity to speak to students across grades and gain exposure to MUN and debating.
We expect each delegate to put their best effort forward and bring out fruitful points to the session. It's not about the awards or the amount of speaking time you get, it's about the connections you make, the awareness you gain about your surrounding issues and mostly the experience which stays with you. The key to a successful conference is to simply be prepared.
If you're a first-time MUNner, we'd simply want to point out that while conferences may appear overwhelming at first, the only way you'll feel at ease is to begin speaking. Don't be hesitant to speak out if you feel compelled to do so; have confidence that you'll add something useful to the conversation. Once a delegate begins speaking as time passes you will learn to enjoy the comfort in how enjoyable each session is.
As the head of Admin it is my duty to ensure a smooth MUN experience for everyone. Despite not conducting the study, admin members can participate in every committee and the conference itself! Each committee will have multiple admin staff members present to make sure that any issues are immediately resolved so that the delegates have an enjoyable experience. The admin team will always be on hand to address any concerns, including logistical and technological ones, that may arise on the last day.
We look forward to creating new leaders who will be able to convey their passion through vocalization and the skillful art of debate.
Regards,
Aditi Chhajed
